What are Veneers?

Austin Dental Veneers, also known as laminates, are wafer-thin pieces of porcelain or composite that are designed to cover the front surface of your tooth to improve your appearance.

They are strong, resilient and comparable to actual tooth enamel.  And they don’t stain easily.  To put a veneer on your tooth, the dentist only has to remove less than 1mm of your natural tooth enamel. The veneer is then bonded to your natural tooth, creating one solid unit.

Veneers are best made for teeth that are fractured, to broaden a tooth in an effort to close an unattractive gap and can even reverse minor problems with your bite.  Since veneers resist stain, they can be used to improve the look of discolored teeth.

Easy to maintain, you only have to brush and floss your veneers along with your teeth.  Soon you’ll forget it is even there.

With excessive wear, veneers can chip so those who have them should avoid biting their nails or anything sharp.  Regular food should not chip your veneer.

It can take some dentists to up to two months to create the perfect veneer for you.  However in our office, our CEREC machine can make veneers the same day, saving you time and money.
