Take the Time to Brush Your Teeth

Are you brushing your teeth for two minutes? Two minutes is much longer than it seems! Now more than ever, at-home dental prevention strategies are essential to dental health and overall health. Brushing morning and night for two minutes is something everyone should be doing. I challenge everyone to have a clock or a timer nearby the next time you are brushing to see how long two minutes is!

A great way to think about this is to divide the mouth into 4 parts:

  1. Upper teeth on the outside (the smile side).
  2. Upper teeth on the inside (the back of your teeth).
  3. Lower teeth on the outside (the smile side).
  4. Lower teeth on the inside (the back of you teeth).

Give each of these segments 30 seconds of your time! Most electric toothbrushes like Philips Sonicare have a built-in timer and will “pulse” at 30-second intervals for you.
