Are you brushing your teeth for two minutes? Two minutes is much longer than it seems! Now more than ever, at-home dental prevention strategies are essential to dental health and overall health. Brushing morning and night for two minutes is something everyone should be doing. I challenge everyone to have a clock or a timer nearby the next time you are brushing to see how long two minutes is!
A great way to think about this is to divide the mouth into 4 parts:
- Upper teeth on the outside (the smile side).
- Upper teeth on the inside (the back of your teeth).
- Lower teeth on the outside (the smile side).
- Lower teeth on the inside (the back of you teeth).
Give each of these segments 30 seconds of your time! Most electric toothbrushes like Philips Sonicare have a built-in timer and will “pulse” at 30-second intervals for you.
